Dr. Basseri began his journey in medicine with a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and later earned his medical degree from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD).
After earning his Doctor of Medicine degree from UCSD, he trained in General Surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, and then went on to complete a fellowship in minimally invasive surgery at the same institution.

On the HDSS, lower scores (one to two) represent manageable symptoms. However, levels three and four indicate that hyperhidrosis is significantly interfering with daily routines and quality of life.

After your procedure, you’ll wake up dry, likely for the first time in years. Because our procedures are outpatient and performed under general anesthesia, you’ll be discharged the same day. Whether you’re local or traveling home, our team provides personalized aftercare guidance. For safety, patients flying within the U.S. must stay locally for one night. International travelers must stay locally for two nights prior to departure.
Most patients can resume their daily routines, including work or physical activity, within a week.

Proven, Permanent Solutions for Sweaty Hands and Feet:
Our Procedures
The nerves that trigger excessive sweating are located deep within the body: in the thoracic region (chest) for hands and in the (lower back) for feet. Both regions require high-precision surgical treatments—ETS for sweaty hands and ELS for sweaty feet.
Dr. Basseri performs the ETS procedure more than anyone in the country. He is the only one in the United States that performs the ELS procedure.
This matters because the vast majority of patients will need both procedures. While the procedures are not performed at the same time, they can be scheduled at least one month apart. Dr. Basseri’s dual expertise means you won’t have to search for another specialist when the time comes.

Endoscopic Thoracoscopic Sympathectomy
Endoscopic Thoracic Sympathectomy (ETS) is the gold-standard surgical treatment for palmar hyperhidrosis (excessive hand sweating).
This minimally invasive outpatient procedure takes about an hour and is performed under general anesthesia.
Through two small chest incisions (5 millimeters and 10 millimeters), Dr. Basseri uses an endoscope to visualize and reach the sympathetic nerve chain (the source of overstimulated sweat glands).
In most cases, the surgeon clamps the T3 to T4 nerve segments and applies titanium clips.
Unlike other methods that cut or burn the nerve, clipping keeps the procedure reversible and offers flexibility if changes are needed later.

Endoscopic Lumbar Sympathectomy
Endoscopic Lumbar Sympathectomy is the proven, permanent surgical treatment for patients with plantar hyperhidrosis (extreme foot sweating).
ELS could also be a viable alternative to ETS if ETS didn’t give the desired results.
ELS focuses on the lower back (lumbar region) and, like ETS, is performed under general anesthesia. But in ELS, Dr. Basseri makes three small incisions (the longest is about 1.5 centimeters).
Using an endoscope, he carefully navigates and operates through these minor cuts. ELS often takes about two hours.
